One of the key activities was the implementation of a Beekeeping, Agroforestry and Wood Energy Conservation Project

Wood Energy Conservation

For the Wood Energy Conservation Project, various structures were put in place to train farmers in producing cook stoves and manufacturing briquettes


A total of 70 farmers were trained in various aspects of basic Agroforestry skills (theory and practical).

Four demonstration plots were established, and by the end of the project a good number of farmers had adopted Agroforestry practices


Forty farmers were trained in Bee keeping by qualified apiary experts. Four demonstration plots consisting of 40 beehives were established. Farmers were trained and each provided with four beehives and by the end of the project some farmers had started harvesting honey

Market Analysis and Value Chain Development

This was concurrently carried out to explore market structures, stages of development, supply and demand levels, competitiveness, market performance, buyers’ concentration and forces, and, key suppliers of inputs, finances, technical and market advice.
